Hi Jon. Did you manage to finish this script? Would love to take a look at it. I'm also trying to auto-create raid arrays (raid0 to be precise) on ec2 images. They need to be auto-created so I can make use of Amazon's autoscaling capabilities.

Here are some links related to Convergent Encryption, it looks promising, and explains how Bitcasa is doing what they claim.

A Convergent Encryption python module https://github.com/HITGmbH/py-convergent-encryption#readmeAnd an interesting Convergent Encryption distributed file system http://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/browser/trunk/docs/about.rst

They apparently use "Convergent Encryption", which derives the key from the file, causing all encrypted versions to be the same post-encryption. More info here http://techcrunch.com/2011/09/18/bitcasa-explains-encryption/

The processor is a Q6600, it has 8GB ram, running Ubuntu Linux 10.04. I just use dyndns.com and connect it via my cable modem (which gets 8-12Mbps). The servers don't have more than a handful of players on them, so that may contribute to being able to run more.

Route 53 is designed to automatically scale to handle very large query volumes without any intervention from user.We have developed a UI tool for this interface - DNS30 Professional Edition. We also have online interface for this application.

This feels like an rm -Rf to me. I am scared to have a script out there that may be executed by a doucher not knowing what he is doing.
